The manufacturer of Movicol, Norgine, has launched a new version of the laxative which could make it easier for patients with constipation to take the correct dose.

Movicol Ready to Take is a ready mixed, pocket size dose for the treatment of constipation and faecal impaction in adults and adolescents over 12 years old.

The powdered sachet version of Movicol must be thoroughly mixed with 60ml of water before ingested or blended with other drinks or food. It can be difficult to mix all the powder into the water or to add the correct amount of water, so sometimes the patient might not ingest the correct dosage.

The new formulation offers patients a discrete and convenient way to take the laxative and takes away the guess work of sachets.

Unfortunately, Movicol Ready to Take is not yet available for under 12s.
