ERIC are thrilled to have won a Nursing Times Award for our best practice guidance document: Managing Continence Issues at Nursery, School and College. The award recognised a partnership approach with co-authors Bladder and Bowel UK (BBUK) to providing guidance and practical support for children at school in the category ‘Continence Promotion and Care’.

Juliette Rayner, ERIC’s CEO says: “We wanted to support the education and early years sectors in gaining a better understand of the far-reaching role that education has to play in managing continence issues. Our downloadable resource describes how children attain continence and what schools can do to promote bladder and bowel health as well as health and safety and safeguarding considerations. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we can’t thank the Nursing Times enough for their recognition of our collaboration with Bladder & Bowel UK in producing the guidance.”

The results of the Nursing Times Awards 2020 were announced on 18 November via a virtual live broadcast ceremony event this year which also happens to be the 30th anniversary of the awards. Full list of Nursing Times winners 2020

Nursing Times editor Steve Ford said: “The annual Nursing Times Awards showcase the innovation and best practice of nurses and midwives across the UK, providing an opportunity to celebrate and share all that is good about the nursing profession. But I think it’s safe to say that these awards for 2020 are even more special in a number of ways.

“Covid-19 has tested the profession probably like no other crisis, with nurses demonstrating their expertise, skill and innovation, whatever their specialty or setting. So, this year more than ever, congratulations to our winners at the 2020 Nursing Times Awards!”
