To celebrate our individual fundraisers, we want to share the story of how 10 year old Edward and his family have raised enough money to help over 1,200 children and teenagers affected by a bowel or bladder problem, their families and the professionals who look after them.

Edward’s story

Edward explains why he wanted to fundraise for us: “I have suffered with problems with my bladder and bowel all my life and ERIC have been a great support to me and my family. I wanted to do something to help them so they can carry on supporting others.”

On a blustery day in October, Edward cycled 25 miles through sunshine, rain and strong winds left behind from Storm Brian. He raised over £250 including gift aid - a fantastic achievement!

Family bake off

Back in the summer, the whole Bowles family including Edward's parents Ally and John and brother Henry and George held a fundraising tea party raising an amazing £262. Friends and family enjoyed tea and homemade cake in the sunshine whilst raising much needed funds.

Edward’s mum Ally explains how the whole family have pulled together in their efforts to help other children: “We are so proud of Edward for his bike ride and for sharing his problem with everyone. We are also very proud of our other two sons George and Henry who helped bake a cake and serve tea. They also supported Edward by cycling with him.”

What the Bowles family have achieved

ERIC's Fundraising Office Anna thinks what the Bowles family have achieved is incredible: "Edward and his family have raised enough money to cover the cost of running our information and helpline service for two whole days. Over 600 children, teenagers, families and professionals visit ERIC’s website each day to access information, support and resources to better manage or overcome children’s bowel and bladder difficulties. Edward and his family have helped over 1200 people and we are so grateful to them."
