Lorna Montgomery - Chair of Trustees Expand I’ve been involved with ERIC since 2003. I began working with the charity as a consultant fundraiser and was invited onto the Board in 2009. Before my fundraising career I was a secondary school physical education and mathematics teacher. I, and also my son, had bedwetting problems until the age of about 15 and so have first-hand experience of the impact this issue has on both the individual and the whole family. I understand the vital role ERIC plays to so many families who need help managing the problem. I continue to work with a number of charities as a consultant and also volunteer for the Institute of Fundraising. In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, cycling, travelling and being in the outdoors.
Dr Eve Fleming Expand I'm the Clinical Education Fellow at the University of Warwick Medical School. I qualified as a doctor in 1965 and, after junior posts in hospital, I became a general practitioner. I later transferred to community child health, dealing with children and teenagers with chronic health problems. My special interest was in adolescent health as I felt the health needs of this group were often neglected. I went on to run a local bowel and bladder service and soon became known as the 'wee and poo doctor', which I took as a compliment! I also trained other staff and supervised nurses who ran clinics. I now help run toilet training courses for the National Autistic Society. Bowel and bladder problems have perhaps more impact than almost any other medical condition on children’s self esteem, education and social relationships, and effective treatment can change children’s lives. I've joined the ERIC Trustee board to share the skills I've developed and to promote information and support for children and families. ERIC is well placed to influence the development of effective and equitable services that are available for all children wherever they live. I'd also like to support ERIC's work in training professionals, and developing audit and research into improving treatment. Grenfell James Expand My role on the ERIC Board is Treasurer. I oversee the financial plans and monthly accounting, monitor charitable compliance issues and liaise with the Chief Executive and fellow Trustees in relation to external funding and commercial matters. I'm a Chartered Accountant in general practice, advising small and medium sized enterprises in connection with financial and taxation matters - which I continue to enjoy more than 50 years after qualifying. I was introduced by a friend to a former Chair of the ERIC Board and since becoming a Trustee, I’ve enjoyed working with everyone associated with the charity - a dedicated group of people whose enthusiasm is infectious.
Karen Tomlin Expand I've worked in the NHS for 20 years including 10 years as an adult continence nurse advisor and service manager in Northamptonshire. I currently work as a matron in a district general hospital. My clinical passion is continence care. I have found that simple treatments can have a big impact on individuals and their families and often the impact of incontinence is underestimated by other healthcare professionals. I joined ERIC, in February 2017, to share my knowledge of NHS services and management as well as develop my own skills. I hope to support developments and services for children and young people with bladder and bowel problems.
Debbie Gordon Expand I am a Chartered Specialist Physiotherapist and worked as an Advanced Practitioner in the NHS specialising in Continence and Pelvic Health until 2014. Throughout my career I have been fortunate to gain experience in the Private Sector, Charitable Sector and Industry and as a result understand the challenges faced by patients, family members and care providers. My present role is as an Independent Healthcare Consultant and I am involved in a number of clinical research and medical marketing projects working to improve access to care. I am passionate about raising awareness, developing patient advocacy and improving clinical outcomes. I am Chair of the Education and Workforce Committee supporting NHS England’s Bladder & Bowel project and also currently sit on a number of boards including APPG Continence, EiCC as well as supporting a number of other Charities and organisations working to raise awareness and improve access to the right care at the right time. I have always admired the work that ERIC achieve and I am delighted to join the board of Trustees.
