Volunteers are vital to ERIC - we couldn’t do what we do without you. Volunteers come from all walks of life, some of whom have personal experience of the issues we are trying to address. We need your expertise and experience but more importantly your motivation and enthusiasm!
"I joined ERIC as a volunteer in October 2019 just after retiring from Ofsted. ERIC's work is a cause close to my heart as my grandson suffered with bowel issues as a baby. I felt I wasn’t ready to slide into a comfy retirement and wanted to continue using my skills and experience and even to learn new skills.
Since joining ERIC I have been involved in several interesting projects such as talking to people using our services about their experiences and helping to review policies. I’ve drafted a volunteering policy to help with the recruitment and induction of other volunteers. It’s been great to acquire new IT and web skills too. I am currently helping ERIC apply for Helplines Partnership accreditation which will ensure that the excellent Helpline service gains deserved recognition.
I love the friendly and welcoming atmosphere at ERIC whether working in the office or online. Everyone is very supportive and appreciative of each other and it’s a pleasure to witness the valuable help given to families and practitioners when dealing with often distressing and misunderstood situations. I am very proud to play my small part in this." Jenny, one of ERIC's regular volunteers
