Research on childhood continence

ERIC has over 3,000 references on its computer database relating to nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting), daytime wetting, and constipation and soiling.

If you are interested in research, please select up to five categories from the list and we will send you a list of references free of charge (please note these are reference lists only – not articles).  You can request the information by post or by email. Click here for ERIC’s postal address or email us.

To see the categories for enuresis click here and for constipation click here.

Current Research Lists

ERIC collects information from a range of sources of new research being published. Click here to see a list of research articles sourced in the last year.

Research with the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC)

ERIC is working with the University of Bristol’s ALSPAC project to look at the causes and effects of bowel and bladder problems on school children and their families. About 8000 families are involved in the project.

Several research papers have been published by the project, covering topics such as increasing understanding of parental coping strategies and the psychological effects of soiling.

ERIC will be producing resources for families and schools in the next year.
