This website provides information and support on childhood bedwetting, daytime wetting, constipation and soiling to children, young people, parents and professionals.

Please support ERIC to help more children and families

Over 750,000 children and young people in the UK struggle with bedwetting, daytime wetting and soiling each year. Every month almost 25,000 people log on to our websites to find help and to read about other people’s experiences.

Last year, ERIC gave information and support by telephone to more than 8,000 families.

ERIC’s school campaigns, designed to improve drinking water and toilet facilities for pupils, are now receiving keen government interest. ERIC needs your continued support to run these and all our other vital services.

ERIC works tirelessly to help families find solutions so that the young people can lead a full a life as possible. Can you help ERIC to help these young people? Please read this section for some ideas of what you could do.

If you would like to make a donation right away, you can, either via our online shop, by post, or by phoning 0117 301 2104.

ERIC's Director's Appeal

Please help ERIC reach out to more children and young people with wetting and soiling problems – every child matters.

ERIC is a small national charity that supports children and young people who suffer from the debilitating and embarrassing problems of bedwetting, daytime wetting and soiling, and provides information, support and resources to families and health professionals. 1 in 12 children experience these difficulties, causing them low self esteem and isolation during their important formative years. This may contribute to bullying at school and teasing, parental intolerance and even punishment at home.

ERIC runs a confidential Helpline and provides a wide range of resources and products relating to bedwetting, daytime wetting, soiling and constipation for families. We work with families in areas of social deprivation to find out what information, support and resources they feel they need to gain a better understanding of continence problems and how to overcome or better manage them. ERIC also runs national campaigns to improve water and toilet facilities for children in schools and helps to improve standards of care and support for children throughout the UK

In order for ERIC to provide information leaflets, support over the phone and a range of website facilities we rely heavily on voluntary income. In one year, it costs ERIC, £100,000 to run the Helpline and Information Section. We have already raised £53,000 for 2009 and hope to raise even more – however we can’t do it without your help.

Ruth Emery, Children’s Continence Nurse Specialist, NHS Bradford and Airedale knows just how vital the work of ERIC is :

“For children who suffer from the drastic effects of being incontinent, the initial first contact is so important in helping them regain control of their problems, which often feels too overwhelming for them, their parents and even health care professionals. What better place to begin to search for ways of how to resolve these difficult problems than ERIC?”

Many of the parents I talk to say they wished ERIC had been available when they had these problems as a child and I don’t want to see ERIC disappear simply because not enough people are aware of all the help that ERIC offers.
