This website provides information and support on childhood bedwetting, daytime wetting, constipation and soiling to children, young people, parents and professionals.

Why ERIC needs your help

ERIC is the only charity providing information and support on childhood continence issues. Bedwetting, daytime wetting, soiling and constipation are very common; we believe that about 1 in 12 young people in the UK have one or more problems with their bladder and bowels.

Research shows that:

  • about 500,000 young people experience bedwetting
  • about 125,000 young people suffer from daytime wetting
  • about 100,000 young people have regular soiling accidents

Bedwetting, daytime wetting and soiling can affect anyone. Wetting and soiling can be very distressing, and many young people and families tell us that they feel very alone with the problem. Children can be bullied; they feel unable to go on family outings, school trips or sleepovers in case they wet or soil; some are even excluded from school if they have an accident.

You can find out how families feel about living with bladder and bowel problems by reading some real life case studies.

The good news is that there is very often something that can be done to overcome or improve the situation. ERIC works tirelessly to help families find solutions so that the young people can lead a full a life as possible. Can you help ERIC to help these young people? Please read on for some ideas of what you could do. You can also donate online at our webshop.

Please Gift Aid your donation if you can as it does not cost you any more, but allows us to reclaim the tax on your donation. The government adds 28p to every pound you give, so if you donate £10, we get £12.80! You can download our Gift Aid form below.
