Why me?
Did you know... about 1 in 12 young people in the UK struggle with bedwetting, daytime wetting, constipation or soiling problems? This means that in a class of thirty 10-year olds, two to three children may be suffering the worry, stress and anxiety of continence problems.
ERIC (Education and Resources for Improving Childhood Continence) with backing from the Big Lottery Fund, has produced the 'Why me?' tool kit to help practitioners and health care professionals working with children and young people in a range of settings support these children. The resources provide guidance and information on childhood bedwetting, daytime wetting, soiling and constipation.
'Why me?' is available FREE to download and includes:
- School Management Information – information and support for school managers in the provision of practical support and care within an educational establishment
- School Nurse – new starter presentation and information
- Adult Training – professional development activities for ITT and CPD
- Curriculum-linked – teaching and learning materials enabling teachers and pupils to explore sensitive issues, including continence problems as part of PSHE at primary and secondary level.
Each section of the ‘Why me?’ tool kit includes: Activity Session or Lesson Plan, supporting resources or pupil task sheets and IWB compatible PowerPoint session support presentation.
